Fresh off the back of his recent photoshoot with Mish Mash Jeans, James Walker has won the first race of the 2012 European Le Mans Series at the Paul Ricard circuit in France.

Both James and his fellow driver Jonny Cocker are sponsored by Mish Mash and were sporting their new clothing at the circuit over the weekend. Once in race mode both drivers swapped jeans for race suits and helmets with Mish Mash branding.

It was James who started the race after qualifying the JMW Motorsport Ferrari 458 in second place, behind the JMB Racing car of Ferrari veteran Jaime Melo. After completing a fast stint he handed the car over to Jonny before taking the wheel again for a double stint. The team also chose to double stint the tyres during James’ run in order to gain valuable time back from the JMB Ferrari in the lead.

The plan was a good one as it enabled Jonny to get the jump on Melo as he exited his last pit stop. It was a furiously close and exciting race and the victory is testament to the hard work of James, Jonny and the JMW Motorsport team.

“We’ve started the year in exactly the same way as last year, with a win at Paul Ricard,” said a delighted James. “We had a small issue with the brakes in qualifying but we solved this for the race and it was flat out all the way. We were a bit clever with our pit stops and I double-stinted the Dunlops during my second run. I have been incredibly impressed with the performance of the Dunlop rubber this weekend. The tyres were absolutely perfect. I managed to make up a big chunk of time during my last run and then Jonny did a great job to hold off Melo in the closing laps. It was fantastic to be involved in such a close fought race.”

“We couldn’t have wished for a better start to our season,” he continued. “You never know where you will be in relation to the competition until the flag drops so it’s a great feeling to come out on top!”

AW12 Shoot with James Walker

Mish Mash sponsored racing driver James Walker was today trying out a new profession. Ahead of his first race of the season, this weekend in France, James agreed to model the new AW12 Mish Mash range for a photoshoot. Below are a few behind the scenes shots:

James will be heading for Le Castellet in France at the end of the week for the first round of the European Le Mans Series at Paul Ricard. The Jersey-born racing driver is delighted to have been retained by JMW Motorsport after a successful debut season in 2011.

“I’m very happy to be continuing with JMW Motorsport in 2012,” said James. “I had a great year with Jim (McWhirter) and the team in 2011 so I’m really pleased to be back for a second year. The team has a fantastic family atmosphere and everybody is there for the same reason: to win. I was able to get back behind the wheel at the recent pre-season test at Ricard. The JMW Ferrari is such a great car to drive and I love racing it wheel to wheel with some of the best teams and drivers in the world. I’m really looking forward to the first race getting underway at the end of the month.”

The first race of the ELMS season takes place on Sunday 1 April. All ELMS races will be shown live on Motors TV with live streaming and timing available at www.europeanlemansseries.com

Chris Holmes and James Walker at Mish Mash HQ

Racing drivers Chris Holmes and James Walker came in to visit the Mish Mash team and introduce themselves to the company. Chris and James are both drivers managed by Tim Sugden and are now sponsored for by Mish Mash for the coming season.

Once all the introductions were out of the way Chris and James got down to the business of trying on some of this seasons clothing. Some time later both drivers had a box full of Mish Mash clothing packaged up and ready to take with them. Before they left we managed to persuade them both to pose for a quick photo in some of their new gear.

Here at Mish Mash Christmas is one of our favourite times of the year therefore we will be closing to celebrate from Friday 23rd December and reopening on Tuesday 3rd January.

The Last orders that will be taken before Christmas will be on Wednesday the 21st December.

The Returns policy after Christmas: If emails are sent during the closing time for returns these will be prioritised for when we take returns on Friday 6th January. All Returns will be taken From Friday 6th January.
